Literary Pumpkin Contest

2021 Literary Pumpkin Decorating Contest

This year, the library is getting into the fall spirit by hosting a pumpkin decorating contest. Kids, teens and adults are invited to decorate a pumpkin like their favorite book character. It’s easy and fun for the whole family! Participants may bring in a decorated pumpkin and enter it into our contest starting October 1st through October 22nd.

All entries must be received by 2:00PM the day of October 22nd.

  1. ABSOLUTELY NO CARVED PUMPKINS! Carved pumpkins rot, attract bugs, and smell. Most importantly, we don’t want a child handling a knife or carving tools. Carved pumpkins will not be entered into the contest and will be sent home. Participants can use real or craft pumpkins. Gourds can also be used.
  2. Pumpkins should represent a favorite book character. On the entry form, you must write the title and author of the book, as well as the book character All designs must be family friendly!
  3. Pumpkins can be painted, hot glued, colored, etc. Objects, paper and non-perishable materials of any kind may also be used. No electrical devices may be used as part of any entry.
  4. Please drop off your pumpkins and contest entry forms to the library beginning October 1, 2021.
  5. Pumpkins will be judged according to the following categories: Kids (Ages 3-7), Young Teens (Ages 8-12), Teens (High School Students) and Adults (Age 18+)
